Speaking with guest Rachel Bilson on the latest episode of the Anna Faris is Unqualified podcast this week, Faris has revealed she ignored the warning signs in both marriages to Ben Indra and Chris Pratt. When discussing the ending of both relationships, she said her “hand was forced”.

“For me, I think after every breakup, at some point I realise that there were a lot of things I ignored that I really shouldn’t have,” Faris said. “In hindsight, it felt like my hand was forced. I don’t think it was ever an independent decision.”

The 44-year-old married Indra in 2004 and subsequently split in 2008. Faris and Pratt were then married from 2009 to 2017. They share an 8-year-old son, Jack. Speaking to a caller on the namesake podcast, in hindsight Faris said there is strength in calling off an engagement and hinted she wished she had done the same with Pratt.

“I really feel like calling off an engagement is a smarter, stronger, braver move than what I did,” the Scary Movie star admitted. “Which was like, well, I guess everyone is expecting this, so let’s just go through with it.”

In a past episode of the namesake podcast, Faris admitted a sense of competitiveness led to issues between her two partners.

“My two other marriages were with actors, and I don’t think we did a great job of eliminating competitiveness,” she continued. “Or at least I didn’t, being a proud person, and not wanting to reveal vulnerability. Any hint of competitiveness and comparison, I didn’t handle that very well, I don’t think. And I hope I’ve grown from that.”

Pratt and Faris finalised their divorce in November 2018. Pratt announced his engagement to Katherine Schwarzenegger in January 2019. The couple share a daughter, Lyla Maria, who was born in August 2020. Faris is now engaged to cinematographer Michael Barrett.
