Oscar-nominee Andra Day isn’t new to making a statement on the red carpet. This awards season alone, some of her most iconic looks included a Chanel Haute Couture gown, as seen at the Golden Globes, and an epic ombré Prada pantsuit debuted at the Critics Choice Awards. Now, she’s done it again with a highly appropriate look for the 93rd annual awards ceremony, which we’ve coined “comfy glamour.”
The actress arrived at the Spring Place Oscars after party (hosted for the cast of The United States vs. Billie Holiday), having traded her gold, glittery Vera Wang gown for a metallic silver backless design featuring a cowl neckline and a super high-leg slit. She also swapped her Casadei stiletto sandals with a much more comfortable option: a pair of cozy black Ugg slippers, specifically, the American footwear brand’s Fluffita Sandal.
The star’s after party footwear of choice is so very 2021, a modern approach to Hollywood glamour as we know it. It’s also wildly relatable, like Glenn Close’s extremely wise decision to coat her feet in CBD cream before slipping into heels for the first time in…a long time. How could you blame either one of them?
Day may not have taken home the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance channeling iconic singer Billie Holiday in the 2021 film. Still, she did execute two fiercely iconic looks, one that arguably resembles the famed Oscar statue itself and the other perfectly appropriate for a post-pandemic after party.
