In the lead up to her highly anticipated live appearances, Adele has broken down in tears on Instagram today as she announced the postponement of her Las Vegas residency. In a deeply emotional video, bare faced and in a hoodie, she explained the shows could not go ahead due to delays in deliveries and the Omicron variant which has swept through the US.

“My show ain’t ready,” the Grammy-winner singer told fans. “We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID. Half my crew, half my team are down with COVID and they still are and it’s been impossible to finish the show.”

Adele began to cry as she explained how “gutted” she was to postpone the shows. “We’ve been awake for 30 hours trying to figure it out.”

She continued, “I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m sorry to people who have travelled again. I’m really, really sorry.”

The announcement was well-received by her fans with a slew of comments praising the singer for her vulnerability.

Adele and her team are in the process of rescheduling all dates. The residency dubbed “Weekends with Adele” was announced in November and was set to see the star perform two shows each weekend through to Saturday April 16, 2022 – a total of 12 weeks. Aside from an appearance in London’s Hyde Park this coming summer, there is currently no plans for Adele to perform internationally.

The singer returned to the public eye in 2021 to release her fourth studio album 30 after a six year hiatus from music. According to Billboard, it was the top-selling album of the year (in just three days of release) and debuted with 839,000 album-equivalent units.

Last week she released a fashion-fuelled music video for the single “Oh My God”.
