It’s been a mammoth year for members of the Screen Actors Guild. After the labour union called a historic, albeit interruptive, strike to negotiate new contracts with Hollywood executives, the affected performers are only now getting back to regular programming. (Read: a procession of theatrics across red carpets and expertly crafted press tours).

Now, the SAG stars will have the opportunity to relish in their achievements, with the annual Screen Actor’s Guild awards returning to Hollywood on February 25. Today, only a few days after the 2024 Golden Globes and pre-Oscars Governors Awards, the industry guild announced the nominees for the prestigious accolades, with ‘Barbenheimer’ once again battling it out as front runners leading with the most nods.

Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan’s box-office successes received four nominations each, including the pinnacle achievement of ‘outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture’.

Similar to the Golden Globes, the SAG awards honour feats in television, too. Australian actresses Elizabeth Debecki and Sarah Snook, who won respective awards at the 81st Golden Globe awards, will compete for ‘outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series.

While celebrity stylists frantically pull together the last details for their client’s red carpet forays—we know Andrew Mukumal is currently drowning in pink fabric for Margot Robbie—acquaint yourself with the big-ticket names and nominees to know ahead of the ceremony.
