Katy Perry has debuted her song Chained To The Rhythm in a very original way.
On Thursday Katy shared a link to a map that shows the location of disco balls around the world that, when headphones are plugged into them, play the new song.
Thankfully Katy didn’t forget her Australian fans, with one of the special disco balls being planted outside the Sydney Opera House.
If you can’t get to one of the special spots yourself, you don’t have to wait long to hear it, as Chained To The Rhythm will be officially released this weekend.

From what we’ve heard of the track, it’s a typical pop anthem, as you’d expect from Katy. But the lyrics, which include “we think we’re free” and “we keep those coloured glasses on” hint at more complex issues than she’s tackled in the past. Which should come as no surprise given the singer’s involvement in the political world as she campaigned for Hillary Clinton last year and attended the Women’s March on Washington last month.
It’s expected Perry will perform the song at the Grammys on Sunday; she’s one of a stellar line-up of acts including Adele, Lady Gaga, John Legend and reportedly, Beyonce.
If you’re in Sydney and can find the time, head to the steps of the Sydney Opera House to see what all the fuss is out.
