Kate Middleton has always understood the refreshing power of a considered outfit repeat. Rather than treating her wardrobe as a one-wear archive, the Princess of Wales seems to delight in breathing new life into a beloved piece with the help of some accessories. Her latest outing offered yet another masterclass in the art of a timeless rewear.

Stepping out in London yesterday to support the Anna Freud Centre, of which she is a patron, the royal reached for a dress from one of her go-to designers, Emilia Wickstead. Featuring long sleeves, a wide collar, and a belted waist, the houndstooth print midi dress epitomises the regal style Middleton has become known for.

To finish, she reached for bespoke sapphire-and-diamond cluster earrings that famously belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. While the original design—which matched the iconic engagement ring also passed down to her—featured a two-set drop earring design, Middleton famously had the earrings reconfigured as studs and a separate pendant necklace.

But the star of this rewear was in the latest addition to her handbag rotation—the  Small Hudson handbag by DeMellier.

Rendered in mocha suede, the compact top-handle style comes finished with a gleaming gold-plated lock and a satisfyingly structured shape. At $955 AUD, it sits at the more attainable end of the luxury spectrum and is described on the brand’s website as “designed to empower” and “crafted to last.”

While the princess has reached for the brand in the past, this was her first outing with this particular style.

Having debuted the Emilia Wickstead dress during her 2022 visit to Harvard’s Centre on the Developing Child, it’s clear to see that Middleton has long held a proclivity for a mini bag moment.

Back then, she paired the dress with black suede pointed pumps and a small blue Mulberry bag with gold hardware.
