In a George R.R. Martin-style plot twist, Sophie Turner and Chris Martin might be Hollywood’s latest unlikely coupling.
According to Us Weekly, the two have quietly gone on “a few dates in London,” sparking rumours of a budding romance between the Game of Thrones alum, 29, and the Coldplay frontman, 48.
“It’s still very new, but there’s a lot of chemistry,” an insider told the outlet, adding that the pair “have a lot in common”—including their British roots and a shared love of music. Turner, it seems, has long admired Martin’s work, as a resurfaced clip from 2020 shows her squealing with delight as he surprised her with a birthday message via her then-husband, Joe Jonas.
“She’s even joked that she once had a crush on him,” says a source. “It’s funny and surreal that it’s happening in real life.”
Both are navigating fresh starts. Turner recently ended her on-again, off-again relationship with British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, following her divorce from Jonas, with whom she shares two daughters.
Martin, meanwhile, reportedly called it quits with Dakota Johnson earlier this year after nearly eight years together and an engagement.
That, of course, adds a particularly intriguing twist, as Turner and Johnson have appeared to be friendly, having moved in the same circles in Hollywood and London. In 2023, the two were even photographed seemingly enjoying a girls’ night out.
Still, sources insist that Johnson and Martin are on good terms, and that this new romance goes beyond gossip fodder, so we’ll be watching this space closely…
