Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are going their separate ways after nearly two decades of marriage, Variety has confirmed.
The couple, who wed in Sydney in 2006, had long been considered one of Australia’s most enduring Hollywood exports, always being each other’s biggest supporters.

The pair’s romance first began at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles in 2005, an evening that celebrates Australian talent abroad. Within a year, they were engaged; within two, wed. Yet their marriage was not without its battles. Four months into married life, Urban entered rehab for alcohol addiction, which was a decision he has since described as both life-saving and marriage-saving.
Just last year, the country singer recalled that period during his speech at the AFI Life Achievement Award, where the Babygirl star was being honoured. Fighting back tears, he addressed his wife, acknowledging that his addictions almost “blew our marriage to smithereens.”
“She pushed through every negative voice, and she chose love,” he added. “And 18 years later, here we are.”
Kidman marked their last anniversary with a tender post captioned simply, “Happy Anniversary Baby.” Urban, meanwhile, remained silent, choosing instead to share glimpses of his touring life on social media.
A fixture on red carpets, the couple seemed an unshakable exception amid Hollywood’s short-lived romances. Currently, no particular reason has been confirmed for the split, but the duo are sure to continue coparenting their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
