While there was no shortage of talking points born from this latest season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the breakout star of the show’s season finale wasn’t the long-awaited Conrad reunion or the fresh hair transformation, but rather Belly’s lipstick.
Midway through the Prime Video episode, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, Lola Tung’s character swipes on a sultry, Parisian red that endures cake, cocktails and late-night heartache upon Conrad’s unexpected birthday visit. Though most of the series has seen Tung embrace her character’s effortless no-makeup beauty, her time abroad is punctuated by a transformation of sorts. One that included a striking pout. Naturally, the Internet demands answers.
Harper’s Bazaar was the first to note the lipstick case: a sleek, minimalist black tube that looked suspiciously Nars. Their guess? The Explicit Refillable Satin Lipstick in Unrestrained, a velvetty garnet hue with a sheer sheen. And while that’s a strong contender, we’re willing to hazard another educated guess: Nars Explicit Lipstick in Last Night, a burnished cherry that could certainly match the lived-in Parisian vibes of Belly’s makeup look.
While the packaging may have been a red herring, and the finish and exact hue seemed to change throughout the episode, the look—a blurred matte berry-tinged red—seems fairly replicable.
