SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Château de Versailles, also known as the pinnacle of French grandeur, played muse to Dior Beauty’s Ball Of Dreams holiday event on December 6 in Darling Point. The ballroom of the heritage-listed Swifts Manor in Sydney’s east was transformed to mimic the ornate splendour of the 17th century French estate; warm candlelight, golden chairs, fresh peonies and roses, and bespoke art pieces perched atop gilded plinths.
A Dior wonderland to rival last year’s grand soiree in Darlinghurst—the brief on this particular evening was to recreate Paris’ iconic Les Tuileries Royal Garden—2024’s dinner-and-a-show was equally as fairytale-like. Performers appeared in between courses—dancers on the centre stage! A violinist in the corner! An organ player on the mezzanine! The standout, however, was a local talent named Ashli’s who performed a stirring rendition of Chris Isaak’s 1989 classic “Wicked Game”.
Eighty guests were then ushered to the property’s underground cellar where a tower of desserts in chrome coupes were waiting.
Notable guests included Felix Mallard, Sam Corlett, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Miah Madden, Emma McKeon, Cody Simpson, Lincoln Younes, Natasha Oakley, Victoria Lee, and Josh Heuston.
The French house’s beauty division has captured the zeitgeist this year with a series of moments: Rhianna fronted Dior’s J’adore campaign, Mallard became Australia’s first Dior fragrance and skincare ambassador, the Dior Spa hit the railways in Asia for the first time, Elizabeth Debicki was a vision in Dior when accepting a Critics Choice Award, and, perhaps ever so aptly, one of GRAZIA’s makeup artists took inspiration from Dior’s SS24 Haute Couture runway to create this incredible series of beauty looks shot inside a palace in France.
