All hail, Elizabeth Debicki. The 33-year-old Australian star has added another award to her shelf, picking up the Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of the late Princess Diana in television hit series The Crown.
“I truly did not expect this,” Debicki said on January 14 as she accepted the award in Los Angeles, a week after winning the Golden Globe in the same category. “This role has been an incredible gift to me, it has been an incredible challenge—a terrifying challenge—and I will always be grateful for it.
“My only hope really was that I would do this remarkable woman proud by playing her in this show.”
Just like Diana herself, Debicki went for a modern take on formalwear in a pair of high-waisted, wide-leg tailored trousers and a delicately embellished sheer tank bodice. Her long, platinum blonde hair was swept to the side with old Hollywood finger waves framing her face. But it was her slept-in, smoky eye which caught our attention, the purposefully smudged liner the product of celebrity makeup artist Georgie Eisdell using French luxury beauty brand Chantecaille.
“I wanted to lean into the edginess of the jumpsuit and keep the look simple, lashy and cool,” said Eisdell who has painted every famous face imaginable. “I wanted her skin matte and her lips light.”
