Olivia Rodrigo has swapped the stadium stage for the red carpet after arriving at the Palazzo del Cinema for the 81st Venice International Film Festival. The multi-hyphenate star, who has just wrapped a slate of shows in her native Los Angeles, landed on the Lido di Venezia in a look fitting for her post-grunge 90s aesthetic.
Despite it being her first time attending the star-studded event, Rodrigo appeared as a seasoned professional in a floor-length slip dress made from a sheer black material decorated with a contrasting velvet floral pattern. Featuring razor-thin straps and a charcoal rosette in the middle of the neckline, Rodrigo’s look was a gutsy display of Gen-Z glamour.
However, it wasn’t just her look that piqued our interest. Indeed, Rodrigo also used the 2024 iteration of the cinematic event to confirm her relationship with English actor Louis Partridge who was debuting his latest performance on the second day of the schedule.

Partridge features in Alfonso Cuarón’s upcoming Apple TV+ crime thriller Disclaimer, co-starring alongside Cate Blanchett, Sacha Baron-Cohen, Australia’s Kodi Smit-McPhee and Squid Games breakout star HoYeon Jung. The nascent couple didn’t walk the red carpet together but were pictured posing together for photos outside of the nearby luxurious Hotel Excelsior. (See the looks here.) Despite this being their first official public outing, the pair had already mastered the art of complementary dressing with Partridge matching Rodrigo in a 70s style suit from Prada. The SOUR singer was later seen filming the budding actor as he accepted a round of applause at the end of the screening.
Rodrigo and Partridge have been rumoured to be dating since October 2023. Given the “Vampire” singer’s outward obsession with the Twilight series, this excursion has once again drawn comparisons to Robert Pattinson and Kirsten Stewart’s characters. Welcome back, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.
