With the same ferocity of low-rise jeans and trucker hats, another relic of the 2000s is coming back: The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
After confirming that its infamous runway show would return in all its former glory, which is separate from the digital ‘world tour’ it tried to replace the physical show with, the lingerie giant dropped a teaser revealing the official date of the event—with a legendary VS angel to boot.
In a new promotional video posted to the brand’s Instagram, Gigi Hadid, who has walked three shows in the past, is filmed walking around a luxe hotel in a glittering mini-dress. As she approaches the front desk, the receptionist is busy flicking through golden-enveloped invitations, only to turn around and reveal herself as Tyra Banks. Chappell Roan’s ‘Femininomenon’ plays as a close-up of the invitation announces the show’s details, which will take place in New York City on October 15, 2024.
The former America’s Next Top Model judge will make a grand return after debuting on the controversial runway as early as 1996 and appearing in its lineup for the following ten years.

Though it was once one of the hottest tickets of the year, with performances from Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and the Spice Girls, its place in 2024 is something to be questioned.
Over the last few years, the brand has faced numerous controversies. Since the original fashion show’s cancellation in 2019, which followed then-marketing chief Ed Rezak’s insensitive comments regarding transgender and plus-sized models, the brand has consistently come under fire for its lack of diverse representation and alleged toxic culture.
Though nothing else has been confirmed regarding the models or performers, the news has naturally received mixed reviews. Some commenters are thrilled to see the event return, while others are less hopeful that the brand will reflect what modern audiences want.
