True or false: no member of the human race can eclipse an Irina Shayk red carpet moment. (Lady Gaga of course did her best at the 2019 Met Gala with a 25-foot Brandon Maxwell train and multiple wardrobe changes on the carpet, but alas, the 5-foot-9 Russian model blew everybody away in a midnight blue velvet Burberry gown. Heck, she even ate a bowl of pasta while getting her makeup done.)
So imagine the horrible feeling of turning up to the 2021 Met Gala – the event to herald the return of all events post-pandemic – only to have the same dress on as Shayk. Well, a very close one anyway.
Such must have been the case for actor Lili Reinhart today when she arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a very beautiful nude, sheer corseted mini with a train of flowers pinned to it – by Christian Siriano – to see Shayk in a nude, sheer corseted mini with a train of flowers pinned to it – by Moschino.
Siriano took to Instagram to tell his fans that Reinhart is wearing 50 state flowers to represent the 50 states of America (they look like fresh flowers!). Shayk – who arrived on the arm of Jeremy Scott – had many beaded florals pinned to her train and corset (and was smiling continually from ear-to-ear, possibly because she’s now a single woman again after reportedly breaking things off with Kayne West. We only speculate.)
Reports are coming through just now suggesting Shayk and Kardashian may have run into each other at the event. Which is highly likely given the latter can’t see a thing in her Balenciaga face cover.
