Wonder woman’s had a high fashion makeover courtesy of Valentino and we’re officially jealous. Her star-spangled signature’s still there, and so is the classic blue – although the shiny navy satin’s made way for a far more practical soft denim – along with metal finishes that attract eyes rather than deflect bullets.

Carrying on the recent tradition of quirky and almost costume-like (read: VERY commercial) limited edition capsule collections – like this Hawaii range here – Valentino’s clever designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have teamed up with Roman street style artist Flavio Solo to create Valentino Wonder Woman capsule collection as part of the much larger Starstudded Collection, which has a second camoflauge print capsule offering too.

With permission from DC Comics (because who could ever say no to Valentino?) the trio say they created the range as a tribute to all of the women who are constantly juggling busy, challenging lives. (Now, they can juggle in floor length, star-emblazoned tulle – tres practical, non?) Solo even dedicated the three murals he created for Valentino’s flagship stores in Rome, Milan and New York (check out the video here) to his own ‘superhero’ mum.

The collection comprises everything from eagle emblem-studded bustier and biker jacket to All-American denim overalls and shorts (mini, of course) and sparkling rayon knits that twinkle like the night sky. Red carpet-worthy tulle dresses are balanced with casual bombers jackets and cropped coats.

The brand’s multi-season hit rockstuds are replaced with metal stars on bags and casual flats that would be far easier to run in than WW’s previous red knee-high heels. Missing is the lasso, but the star-dotted headband makes for a far more modern accessory in our books. Wonderous Spring racing headwear, found.
