Lady-Gaga-Pregnancy-Rumours

Unfortunately for Lady Gaga, enjoying her maid of honour duties at her younger sister’s wedding over the weekend was impossible as she was forced to dispel speculation that she was pregnant. After a paparazzi picture emerged of the multi-hyphenated star wearing a body-conscious black mini dress amid the Maine ceremony, rumours that the 38-year-old was expecting ran rampant online. Never one to endure false allegations, Lady Gaga took to TikTok to shut down the gossip where her tongue-in-cheek, albeit powerful, response reached over three million people—including Taylor Swift.

Gaga debunked the rumours, all while encouraging viewers to register to vote in the upcoming United States presidential election, by filming a close-up of her trademark razor-sharp eyeliner and voice-overing a viral sound. While a remix of Estelle’s “American Boy” and a speech that said, “I don’t have to find an aesthetic; I am the aesthetic” played over footage of her Haus Labs makeup, Lady Gaga wrote a short statement that featured a lyric from Swift’s eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Referencing the title of the 34-year-old’s fourth song, “Down Bad”, Lady Gaga said: “Not pregnant—just down bad cryin’ at the gym”. The song explores heartbreak and abandonment, leading Swift to lament over her lost love in mundane settings.

Acknowledging the mention, Swift herself issued a stern message in Gaga’s comment section, stating, “Can we all agree that it’s invasive & irresponsible to comment on a woman’s body.” “Gaga doesn’t owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman,” she added, signing the message off a kiss. (A.K.A, the puckered lips emoji.)

Of course, Swift’s defence of Gaga has eclipsed her sentiment with fans flooding her TikTok with requests for a collaboration. Swift herself has encountered her share of false pregnancy rumours, which she also addressed on TTPD with the song “But Daddy I Love Him”. Swift calls out the “judgmental creeps” and “vipers dressed in empath’s clothing” who sanctimoniously shame who she dates and how she behaves.

Lady Gaga, on the other hand, is preparing for the upcoming release of Todd Phillip’s musical sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux. Watch the trailer for the highly-anticipated film, below.
