On Tuesday, the “Girls Need Love” songstress posted a photo of her and SZA serving the perfectly angled derrière shot in front of studio equipment, suggesting the duo would be working on more than just their glutes. Veteran soulstress Erkyah Badu and rap newcomer Flo Milli flocked to the comments and gave their respective stamps of approval. Although the caption pinned to photo was a mere emoji, fans of the R&B heavyweights flocked to Twitter to revel in their hopeful optimism for a forthcoming song of the summer contender. Over on Twitter, one user wrote, “I think a Summer Walker and SZA collab is exactly what I need.” Another user tweeted, “SZA and Summer Walker am I even emotionally prepared for this?”
And to answer that puzzling last question: We are absolutely not to lyrically reckon with our love lives. Walker’s last album, Over It, gave us the kind of slow-groove sultry tunes that could salve our lovestruck naïveté, frustrations and anger. As for SZA’s CTRL, the sonic extraordinaire of the sexually liberating compilation continues to stand the test of time.
Walker seems to know no bounds to her upcoming collaborations as she’s also teased a release alongside Omarion. Following her bombshell SZA post, Walker added yet another photo with the B2K frontman with the caption, “Get Ready☺️.” Now of course, we have no release dates marked on our calendars but we can all continue to ponder what emotional baggage these features will unravel for us. All we do know is that these are the exact moments R&B desperately needs right now, and we are not brooking any arguments.
