Attention all Neiman Marcus shoppers: there’s a new brand to have on your radar. Founded by artist and designer Andrea Mary Marshall, the womenswear label Salon 1884 just launched exclusively at Neiman Marcus as part of retailer’s ongoing support of emerging designers.

Marshall has an impressive background in fine art and design. The brand, which is named after John Singer Sargent’s “Portrait of Madame X,” pays tribute to Marshall’s career as a self-portrait artist and is designed for the modern woman who is effortlessly chic.

The brand offers a wide range of versatile pieces, and Marshall has created a contemporary yet classic capsule wardrobe with the Edition No 01 collection, which features 1980s-inspired silhouettes in neutral colors from tailored trousers and blazers to evening wear that can be worn year after year.

The pieces can be worn together or separately as well as integrated into one’s existing closet with ease. There is a heavy focus on craftsmanship and sustainability practices. Salon 1884 is ethically made with sustainable materials and manufactured in New York City’s Garment Center.

To present the collection, Marshall photographed herself in a series of selfies, perfectly fitting for the self-portrait artist!

“I chose to partner exclusively with Neiman Marcus because I believe the assortment of pieces in my collection are synonymous with the pillars of luxury fashion that Neiman Marcus is known for,” Marshall said in a release. “Salon 1884 is designed for the modern woman and her unique approach to style. Edition No. 01 is photographed as a series of ‘selfies,’ that reflect upon the way women interact with and experience fashion today – through her own lens, as she wants to be seen.”

Jodi Kahn, Senior Director, DMM, Women’s Designer RTW, Neiman Marcus said in the release that the retailer is “passionate” about supporting the exclusive launch of the Salon 1884.

“The designs are feminine and sophisticated yet understated at the same time,” Kahn said. “The pieces can be easily integrated into one’s wardrobe. Salon 1884 has the newness and fashion-forward approach our customers are looking for without trying too hard, and we believe this collection will resonate strongly with them.”

To celebrate the launch, Neiman Marcus hosted an intimate dinner at the historic Hotel Chelsea’s Bard Room in New York City where Coco Rocha showed off her signature moves in the long-sleeve gown in silk jersey.

The debut collection is available exclusively at neimanmarcus.com as well as Neiman Marcus stores at NorthPark in Dallas and Los Angeles.
