In 2013, artist Dan Llywelyn Hall stirred the pot with his eclectic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Despite the mixed reviews, his fascination with the royal family didn’t end there.

Unpublished Portraits of the Sussex Couple

Fast forward to today, and Hall has caused quite a stir again. This time, he’s chosen Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as his muses. The new royal portraits, unveiled this month, have taken the internet by storm. People can’t stop talking about how these paintings keep the couple in the royal narrative.

Hall shared his latest masterpieces on the X platform, where fans could get a glimpse of the unconventional new royal portraits. Notably, these depictions present Meghan and Harry in a way fans have never seen before.

Meghan And Harry Royal Portraits Controversy

According to reports by the BBC, Hall felt it was crucial to illustrate the royal family’s evolution. “In Harry’s case, I captured him before he met Meghan – a wild young man with an uncertain future. Then I thought putting Meghan in the role of the White Queen, a highly influential consort, added beautiful irony,” he explained.

Hall’s fascination with the royals is clear. “The royal family is probably the most exciting and longest drama in history. It inspires theater, books, and all forms of art,” he said. For those wanting to own a piece of this drama, the artworks will be available for purchase at The Reign auction at Burlington House from June 28 to July 4, 2024.

The Sussex Saga Continues

It’s interesting how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, often viewed as the “outsiders” of the royal family, still capture the public’s imagination. In 2020, Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States. Despite the distance, Harry retains his Duke of Sussex title, and the decision has done nothing to ease existing family tensions.

Since then, relations between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, have remained frosty. Yet these new royal portraits remind us that, despite all the drama, Meghan and Harry continue to shape royal history in their unique way.
