Marie Kondo’s abode decluttering expertise is returning to Netflix. First arriving to the streamer with Tidying Up, an offshoot of her acclaimed novel “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up,” the lifestyle guru is now ready to bring her renowned fundamentals to businesses, relationships and communities.

Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo — which is slated to premiere on August 31 — is the latest installment in Kondo’s hopeful empire and invites us to all assuage our lifestyles of stress and anxiety. According to Kondo’s site, the series will unveil how the seismic impacts of tidying “are delightfully surprising, emotional and transformative.” And fortunately for her swelling supporters, the series ventures into the likes of aesthetically curated reality television. The show will welcome us into Kondo’s own home, introduces us to her family and gives us a glimpse into the things that spark joy in her personal life.

Kondo’s unscripted breakout show rose to swiftly popularity on New Year’s Day of 2019, just in time for the start of grandiose commitments to often forgotten resolutions. And of course, it was a predictable hit; Western television has a penchant for experts entering homes, sequestered in plain sight, and making over the distressing domestic spaces that lie inside. For avid viewers of the series, Kondo’s unrivaled approach — a balance of tenderness and authority — veered from the typical hoarder’s trope, landing more as a space of empathy for homeowners who usually wrestle with shame.

Moreover, viewers, who inhabited even relatively tidy spaces, found solace in applying her method of extending gratitude and releasing the things that no longer serve us. “The process is to look at what sparks joy in your life, say goodbye to the objects that don’t, and be grateful for the ones you decide to keep,” Kondo said in a previous interview. She continued, “That, to me, is different from simply organizing.”
