Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid have made their red carpet debut together today in New York, arriving at the premiere of Marvel’s highly-anticipated blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine as a sartorial embodiment of the cinematic universe’s multiverse.
The release, which launches in Australian theatres on July 25, sees Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds return for the third instalment as sardonic anti-hero ‘Wade Wilson’. His wisecracking mercenary alter-ego ‘Deadpool’ teams up with Australia’s Hugh Jackman in an attempt to save his home timeline, with the Boy from Oz reviving the role of ‘Logan / Wolverine’ for the first time since 2017.

As the acme of a supporting partner, Lively momentarily eschewed method dressing as her character Lily Bloom in the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel It Ends With Us. The actress wore a luminous Atelier Versace red catsuit inspired by Deadpool’s costume, though she did bring in the botanical motif from her role with black sequins embroidered in a floral pattern down the one piece. She accessorised the look with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.
As comic book acolytes will know, Lively is rumoured to make her debut in the Marvel Cinematic as a female variant of the character known as “Lady Deadpool”. While we only have hours until this is confirmed, Lively’s outfit could either be a co-sign, given she also wore her hair in a high ponytail as the part appears on screen, or a literal red herring.

Hadid, on the other hand, emulated the other lead in a new season set from Miu Miu. As premiered in the luxuriate’s Spring/Summer 2024 runway show presented at Paris Fashion Week, Hadid wore ‘Look 20’ which featured a mustard cropped leather bandana top and corresponding low-rise pleated midi skirt.
She completed her look with a personalised Arcadie bag littered with bag charms and stacks of graphic, inorganic-shaped bangles from Alexis Bittar, Australian brand Dinosaur Designs and a vintage Chanel coin necklace from vintage haunt What Goes Around Comes Around. Similar to the original illustration of the character, Hadid quaffed her cropped bob into a tapered flick.

Emma Corrin, who appears as the film’s antagonist Cassandra Nova, also continued their heroic fashion foray in a tweed bodysuit with a fur, off-the-shoulder shawl neckline. (Yes, they will perennially be the muse of the “pantless” trend.)
Just like the film and the MCU’s penchant for unexpected cameos, there is so much to digest from these ensembles. So, without further adieu, keep scrolling below for your look inside the Deadpool & Wolverine New York premiere.
