Benny Blanco may be a Grammy-winning music producer, but as it turns out, he’s also pretty good at putting his ears to use for his fiancé, Selena Gomez.
In a new Spotify First Look clip teasing the couple’s collaborative album I Said I Love You First, Blanco, 37, revealed how their songwriting process unfolded organically. “I felt like your personal journal,” he quipped of the intimate insight he received, to which Gomez, 32, laughed, “Well, you are!”
Their creative flow, as the actress explained, was never about structured writing sessions, but, instead, all came as a natural extension of their relationship—casual morning chats evolving into deeply personal lyrics. “I could just sit there and talk,” she said, while Blanco confessed to secretly jotting down her words, recognising poetry in her off-the-cuff musings.

So far, their album has gifted fans with three tracks: ‘Scared of Loving You’, ‘Call Me When You Break Up’ (featuring Gracie Abrams), and ‘Sunset Blvd’—each unveiling fragments of Gomez’s inner world, honed by Blanco’s production skills.
Though their engagement, announced in December 2024, continues to make headlines, the duo insists music is the priority as of late.
“I think every day she’s planned a new wedding in her head,” Blanco joked to Rolling Stone magazine. But Gomez remains immersed in the creative moment. “This is such a special time,” she shared. “We’re just pouring our hearts into this album.”

For Gomez, who has long turned personal experiences into anthems, I Said I Love You First marks an exciting musical comeback following her last album, Rare, which came out in 2020. With Blanco by her side—both as a fiancé and, apparently, a human diary—fans are rejoicing in her return.
