Now you know what they say, once is happenstance, but twice is a convenient coincidence. But still, I’m not so convinced as to call the recent outing between Angelina Jolie and The Weeknd a “date” quite yet. But who’s to say we can’t entertain the idea?
Ever since the two were initially spotted together dining out at Hollywood Italian spot Giorgio Baldi two weeks ago, the Internet has been ablaze with rumors that range from full-on dates to a casual business dinner between friends.
But it looks like another public outing of the two has been spotted at folk singer Mustafa’s private concert. In photos posted on Instagram by fans, Jolie and The Weeknd were seated next to each other at the concert alongside a group of The Weeknd’s friends as well as Jolie’s daughters’ Shiloh, 15 and Zahara, 16. It would be an odd move on Jolie’s part to bring her kids to a date situation, which is all the more reason to ponder whether or not there is any romantic connection between the two at all.
In a statement from an “insider,” the two are “just friends” but “the singer ‘made no secret of the fact he has a huge crush on her’ for years.” In another statement from a different source, Jolie and her 17-year-old son Pax met up with The Weeknd on a trip to New York City.
But as far as Jolie’s dating life is concerned, things may be a bit more complicated as she was spotted leaving ex-husband Johnny Lee Miller’s apartment twice. As for The Weeknd, he split from ex Bella Hadid in recent years and proceeded to write a whole album about it. The two started dating on and off in 2016, but officially called it quits in 2019.
For right now, I’m not convinced that the two are dating. It’s going to take a public kiss or display of affection for me to think this is something more than just outings between friends. But who knows, things can always change.
