Just three days after Adam Brody and his wife Leighton Meester were celebrating his nomination at the 2025 Golden Globes, their $6.5 million (AU$10.5 million) home has burned to the ground in the Pacific Palisades wildfire in California.
According to Page Six, the property, which boasted five bedrooms, six bathrooms and ocean views could not be saved on January 8. In very sad photos, you can see the fire ravaging what’s left of the structure: its garage, its top floor and its front garden.
Neither Meester, 38, nor Brody, 45, have issued a statement about the destruction.
Just one day ago, the Gossip Girl star posted to Instagram—a few happy snaps from the January 5 Golden Globe awards’ red carpet. Her husband was being celebrated as a nominee in the Best Actor category for his turn as an unconventional rabbi named Noah in Nobody Wants This. His performance swiftly earned him widespread accolades from critics and netizens alike.
Married in 2014, the star couple bought their dream family home in 2019 and share two children together—daughter Arlo and a son whose name who has not been shared.
The fires broke out on January 7 amid high winds in a region that hasn’t seen significant rainfall in more than six months. At least 30,000 residents have been evacuated from their homes as the fire, spurred on by winds travelling up to speeds of 160 kilometres per hour, rapidly spread. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have announced they have lost their family home, as did Anna Faris and Carolyn Murphy. The latter had just finished restoring her stunning 1700s home in July.
“We are safe, our dogs are safe and that’s all that matters,” wrote Murphy on her Instagram Stories. “But we lost everything.”
