The Côte d’Azur may currently have the highest sartorial moments per capita courtesy of the glitzy Cannes Film Festival. Yet, over 400 kilometres away and far from the Riviera, Lake Como is piquing the interest of style-inclined netizens thanks to the arrival of one such tortured poet and a certain tight end.
Indeed, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have embarked on a pre-European summer soggiórno in the northern Lombardy region during a brief intermission in her Eras Tour schedule. (What better way to preserve your vocal cords for your three-hour stadium tour show than to frolic around Bellagio and ride vintage speed boats in the rain!)
Holding a candle to the AUD $38,000 penthouse she stayed at while in Sydney, Swift and Kelce reportedly checked into the 16th-century Neoclassical residence, Villa Sola Cabiati, for their five-night romantic getaway. Situated on the grounds of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, the breathtaking Palazzo is the acme of grandeur and provided the backdrop for Swift to live out her ‘La Dolce Vita’ fantasy.

When not roaming the perfectly manicured grounds of the hotel, enjoying a moonlit dinner by the lake or hiding out in one of the six stately rooms (which includes a boudoir once frequented by Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte), the couple were spotted boarding a boat to visit the ritzy Locanda La Tirlindana lake-side restaurant.
For the occasion, Swift showed her interpretation of the ‘Tomato Girl Summer’ aesthetic, which featured none of the hallmark hue. Given that Swift dons the red shade during her performances, she settled for something a little more classic in the form of Versace’s Gianni Ribbon open ballerina flats and an Alaïa A-line mini dress. See the photos of her look, here. Kelce also lent into the colour palette of Swift’s latest record, The Tortured Poets Department, with a black-and-white checkerboard sweater from Junya Watanabe.
Swift might’ve sung, “Take me to the Lakes, where all the poets went to die” on the concluding song of Folklore (Deluxe Version), but here in Lake Como, it’s apparent the only event taking place at this body of water is a sweet tryst.
