Girls Through Every Stage Of Life
Renowned for their slinky disco minis, ROTATE proposes a
collection for the grown-up woman about town

Since Clara Bow first stepped
onto the screen as an aspiring ingénue in 1927’sIt, the zeitgeist has been captivated by the
qualities specific women possess that make them inherently
alluring. Danish fashion label,
ROTATE, has become internationally lauded for designing a
wardrobe for such a faction. Those amongst us whose closets are
rife with slinky metallic minis, skin-tight sequin silhouettes and
pieces that deliver a sense of occasion irrespective of the
circumstance. But what do these ‘It’ girls wear when they’re all
grown up?
When, after the party’s over,
they evolve from sleaze-dripped femme fatales to fully-fledged
ladies of leisure. This specific wardrobe was the starting point
for the brand’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Presented during
Copenhagen Fashion Week, co-creative directors and bona fide
influencers, Thora Valdimars and Jeanette Madsen, propose the
pieces a matured ‘It girl’ would require in her woman-about-town
sartorial arsenal.
This, of course, manifested
itself through the shadedu jour; slate
grey and
blood-pumping red. A head-turning hue in any instance, this
cocktail of colours saturated the first half of the colour and got
the heart racing of the
Scandi style set in attendance in daring capris, sculptural
dresses with delicate draping and high-shine gathered sarongs.
Leaning into the stealth wealth agenda, ROTATE’s use of grey
permeated with astute sophistication in high-neck chunky knit
sweaters and sweet lace nap dresses.
Separates took a more prominent
role in the collection, too. As Valdimars and Madsen explained
after the show, this was an intentional move to place “significant
emphasis on celebrating individual personalities and unique
approaches to styling.” With each piece oscillating from overtly
subversive glamour, the choice to dial up the sensuality and
opulence is in the layering of the wearer.
This intimacy in dressing left
the collection with a sense of refined romance, too. The setting of
a crimson catwalk lit by a grandiose chandelier also added to the
feeling of a dark paradise. Perhaps ROTATE’s vampy tunnel of love.
This came to a head in the concluding eight looks—a series of
modern-day
bridal ensembles inspired by fellow screen queen Elizabeth
Taylor’s eight marriages. Embodying the mantra ‘Never a bridesmaid,
always a bride,’ the range revisited the brand’s most iconic
silhouettes in all-white hues. Like the brand, the ROTATE woman is
evolving, too. Down the aisle or down the stairs to a stylish
speakeasy, ROTATE for every rhyme and reason.
