The Cast of ‘Yellowjackets’ Stepped Out in Style for the Season
2 Premiere

The cast of the hit psychological-drama
Yellowjackets reunited last night for the season 2
premiere in Hollywood, looking fabulous out of their soccer
uniforms (and terrifying animal costumes).
Both the adult characters and their teen counterparts stepped
out in style to walk the red carpet. Melanie Lynskey and Sophie
Nélisse star as adult and teen Shauna respectively, while
Juliette Lewis and
Sophie Thatcher portray Natalie, Tawney Cypress and Jasmin
Savoy Brown play Taissa,
Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty appear as Misty, Lauren
Ambrose and Liv Hewson star as Van, Simone Kessell and Courtney
Eaton play Lottie and Ella Purnell portrays Jackie.
The show follows a team of talented high school soccer players
who survive a plane crash deep in the Ontario
wilderness and are forced to do whatever it takes to make it
out alive. 25 years later, their adult counterparts are forced to
deal with the far-reaching consequences of their ordeal and
trauma.
The highly anticipated season 2 was green-lit in December 2021.
The creators of Yellowjackets, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson,
told Varietyin May, “We’ve been calling
season 2, ‘The Winter of Their Discontent,’” referencing the John
Steinbeck book and line from William Shakespeare’s Richard III.
To jog your memory, the Showtime
thriller left off as the team faced a harsh winter. They discovered
that their bubbly friend and soccer team captain, Jackie (Purnell)
froze to death after having an argument with Shauna (Nélisse). In
the very last scene of season 1, present day Natalie (Lewis) gets
abducted by some sort of cult group that was connected to Lottie
Mathews (Eaton and Kessell).
Something spooky also went down in the woods when Lottie, Van
(played by Liv Hewson) and a young Misty (played by Samantha
Hanratty) offer up the bear heart to the woods as a sacrifice.
While Lyle and Nickerson are still finalizing the details of
season 2, Lye told Entertainment Weekly that we can
expect to see a lot of adult Lottie this season and get more
insight into the cult aspect of the show.
Yellowjackets season 2 will be available to stream on
Showtime on March 24.
