John Bommarito was the son of a businessman—Frank Bommarito. Frank Bommarito started the Bommarito Automotive Group, which quickly became a huge part of John’s life. While it may be thought that John grew up in an eased-filled life, that can’t be further from the truth.

At a young age, John’s family taught him the importance of having a strong and continuous work ethic. In other words, John was taught to give it everything he got and to not stop doing so.

At 12, John was already involved in the family business. He would clean and park the incoming new cars that the dealership would then sell. John was then moved to the service and parts department, at 15, so that he can learn the “backbone” of the family business.

While in high school, John was a student during the day, and an employee in the evenings. While it may have been tempting to slack off either at school or at work, John didn’t. Instead, he worked even harder to exceed at both tasks.

He ended up graduating high school in the top two percent of his class. With the many scholarships he was offered, he decided to move to Florida to attend Eckerd College.

Instead of studying accounting or business as some would think, John took a different path. He pursued a degree in Psychology and the Premedical field, and, as might be expected by now, John graduated with honors.

He was accepted into Stanford University Medical School, but he decided to take a year off and return to his roots. He began to sell Mazdas and quickly rose up the ranks to gain the position of Finance Manager and then Sales Manager.

Shortly after, he transferred to a new division in the company as General Manager and brought in record-breaking sales year after year! At the time, cellular phones were gaining traction, which gave John an ingenious idea. He developed what is known as the “Buy a Car Get a Phone Program.”

The program was a tremendous success and was soon introduced to over 300 dealers around the country!

In 1992, General Motors approached John with an offer. They wanted John to buy one of their Oldsmobile-Cadillac stores that had gone bankrupt. Seeing the potential of the store, John agreed.

Now, that very same store ranks 4th in the South-Central Region in Cadillac sales. Before John bought the store, it was only selling 25 units a month. Today, it sells around 280 units a month!

As John continued to grow the company, after quickly being named President, he decided to branch out into the racing world. He began with  the Bommarito Automotive Group 500  in the Indy Car Series, and was able to continually bring in a record-breaking audience under his “Audience Enhancement Program.” He also started a NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series team and a Bommarito Chevrolet Xfinity team with team partner Jordan Anderson,

John’s success over the years shows the importance of a strong and continuous work ethic. He didn’t just stop and bask in his first success; instead, he ran to the next one and the next one after that. Overall, John’s inspiring success story is one that should be remembered and followed.
