Much like “twee” fashion, “eshay” may be a fashion term you’re not all too familiar with; however, thanks to TikTok, Pinterest, and Euphoria‘s Jacob Elordi (we’ll explain later), the ’90s Australian subculture is starting to resurface here on the other side of the globe. The word “eshay” is a Pig Latin derivative of the word sesh or session (an Australian term for hanging out). Eshay is mostly associated with the Australian rap and rambunctious youth scene — or simply, the Australian equivalent of the British chavs.

Elordi (who is from Australia) went viral on TikTok Sunday, this time not for his ability to hold two coffees in one hand but for his eshay style while hanging out at Byron Bay in Australia. The actor was spotted with friend and fellow Brisbane actor Alex Fitzalan, known for his roles in the films The Society and Slender Man. Tiktok user and Euphoria fan @oliviafogz captured a clip of the actor exhibiting the eshay trend.
Much different than his Euphoria character Nate Jacobs’ on-screen style, Elordi’s look included the core components of any eshay guy’s wardrobe: a bucket hat, a crossbody belt bag, and a graphic tee. Given that it’s summer in Australia, the actor paired the look with board shorts and flip-flops.
To try out the trend for yourself, we created a handy shopping guide to easily channel eshay. Shop the pieces, below.
