Jamie Lee Curtis has revealed that her youngest child is transgender. Ruby, 25, is a gaming editor and Jamie shared that her daughter is engaged and will marry in 2022 with Jamie officiating.

Jamie shared that she and husband Christopher Guest “have watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby”, acknowledging that they have “shed old ideas” of the notions of gender.

“And she and her fiancé will get married next year at a wedding that I will officiate.” Jamie told AARP.

Jamie and Christopher are also parents to 34-year-old Annie who is a dance instructor, and Jamie joked that although neither of her children have children “yet”, she hopes to become a grandmother.

Both Annie and Ruby were adopted by Jamie and Christopher, who married in 1984. The award-winning actress has previously revealed they battled infertility issues that meant “adoption was the only way for us to have a family”.

They welcomed Annie in 1986, after meeting her birth mother through an adoption agency. She welcomed their second child, whose birth name was Thomas, in 1996. That same year, Jamie wrote a children’s book called Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born, designed for adopted kids.

Sharing the cover of AARP on social media, Jamie praised her fans and family, and added that she was “happy that my family is safe and flourishing”.

In the interview, the 62-year-old also claimed that her life in recent years has been a “constant metamorphosis,” as she finds new joys. The Freaky Friday star has been removing “vampire” friendships and learned how to set boundaries with friends that she chose to keep in her life.

During the pandemic, she also became “increasingly comfortable with giving her money away” and launched myhandinyours.com, an online shop offering various objects of comfort made by artists — sculptures, candles, wind chimes — to benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Jamie funded the entire project, by herself, and and in less than 12 months it has raised over $250,000 for the hospital.
