It goes without saying, actress-musician Zoë Kravitz is one of the coolest girls in Hollywood. With her effortless sense of style and laid back attitude, the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet has made a name for herself all on her own, whether it be on stage, in fashion, on the big screen or on TV. And if she wasn’t A-List before, Kravitz is on the verge of superstardom as she’s set to play Catwoman in live action for The Batman, slated for a 2022 release.

Nakia In Dope
Plain and simple, Kravtiz was dope in Dope. The 2015 coming of age comedy/drama was executive produced by Pharrell Williams and co-executive produced by Sean Combs. The film follows Malcolm Adekanbi (Shameik Moore) and his best friends who are high school geeks living in “The Bottoms,” a high-crime neighborhood in Inglewood, California filled with gangsters and drug dealers. Malcolm is also juggling his senior year of college applications, interviews and the SATs with a dream of attending Harvard. A chance invitation to a big underground party leads Malcolm and his friends into an “only in Los Angeles” gritty adventure filled with offbeat characters and bad choices. Kravtiz plays oh so cool Nakia, a neighborhood girl a local drug dealer has his sights sets on but instead, she connects with Malcom as she helps him out of a sticky situation. In return, he offers to help her with her GED. With her tomboy grunge style and quiet power, Kravtiz steals every scenes he’s in. Fun fact: The song playing in the background in the sexy scene between Malcom and Lily (Chanel Iman) is called “Dirty Feeling” by Lolawolf,, Kravitz’s band.

TOAST THE KNOWING In Mad Max: Fury Road
Kravitz starred alongside Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Riley Keough in the 2015 Australian post-apocalyptic action film Mad Max: Fury Road. The fourth installment and a “revisiting” of the Mad Max films, the blockbuster follows Max Rockatansky who joins forces with Imperator Furiosa to flee from cult leader Immortan Joe and his army in an armored tanker truck, leading to a lengthy road battle. Kravtiz plays Toast the Knowing, one of the “Five Wives” — the prized possessions of the villainous warlord Immortan Joe. The name ‘Toast’ came from the nickname of Fury Road’s crew member: Shyam “Toast” Yadav, a visual effects data wrangler. On July 8, 2012, one day before the first day of shooting director George Miller was having dinner with Kravitz and he was telling her about the French Toast Gang – a personal project of Yadav. She loved the idea of that project and she asked if her character – the last of the Wives who did not have a name yet – could be named after “Toast.” Yadav agreed and the character’s name was changed to ‘Toast’ in the script.

Bonnie Carlson In Big Little Lies
Big truth, we couldn’t get enough of Big Little Lies, From 2017 to 2019, Kravitz starred in the HBO drama series alongside Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley and Laura Dern (and Meryl Streep in season two). The series tells the story of five women in Monterey, California, who become embroiled in a murder investigation. Kravitz portrays Bonnie Carlson, a free-spirited yoga instructor who is married to the ex of Witherspoon’s character, Madeleine. If you haven’t seen the series, we won’t spoil the twists but let’s just say there is more to the boho babe than meets the eye.

Leta Lestrange IN Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
After appearing in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, Kravitz reprised her role as Leta Lestrange in 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, in a larger capacity. A spin-off and prequel to the Harry Potter film series, the film follows former Hogwarts student and magizoologist Newt Scamander who is enlisted by Albus Dumbledore to help thwart dark wizard Grindelwald’s plans of raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all nonmagical beings. Leta Lestrange is an emotionally damaged and confused young woman who still exerts some control over Newt, who was once, and possibly still is in love with her. Ostracized by her fellow Hogwarts students, she was befriended by a young Newt. She is descended from a historically wealthy pureblood family infamous for embracing the Dark Arts. Leta is engaged to Theseus Scamander, Newt’s brother, and works at the British Ministry of Magic as assistant to Torquil Travers, the Head of Magical Law Enforcement. It’s a fantastic ride!

Pearl In Californication
One of Kravitz’s earliest acting gig was on the Showtime television series Californication in 2011. The provocative show centered a troubled novelist Hank Moody from New York City, played by David Duchovny who moves to California and suffers from writer’s block. Throughout the series, his drinking, womanizing, and drug abuse complicate his relationships with his ex and their teen daughter Becca. In season four, Kravtiz guest-starred as Pearl, the vocalist of the all-female band Queens of Dogtown that recruits Becca to join. The roles wasn’t a total stretch for her. Following in her dad’s footsteps, Kravitz began making music at the age of 16. She fronted the New York/Philadelphia-based band Elevator Fight before forming the band Lolawolf, named after Kravitz’ younger siblings, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf. Rock on.

Angel Salvadore In X-Men: First Class
In 2011, Kravitz appeared in the action blockbuster X-Men: First Class, the fifth installment of the X-Men film series. Her comic book character, Salvadore, is a mutant with dragonfly wings that are tattooed on her body and who possesses acidic saliva. The makeup team took four hours to apply Angel’s wing tattoo on Kravitz, and the visual effects team had to erase the tattoo in case the scene required Angel with the computer-generated wings.To depict flight, Kravitz stood on elevated platforms and was dangled on wires, at times from a helicopter to allow for varied camera angles

Although it was canceled after just one season, High Fidelity was definitely one of Kravtiz’ highest points. Based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Nick Hornby, the underrated Hulu series was Kravtiz’s most recently released project. In the romantic comedy, she plays Rob the owner of Championship Vinyl in the neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn who struggles with a lifetime of failed relationships. In an uber cool coincidence, Kravitz’s mother, Lisa Bonet, appeared in the movie version of High Fidelity with John Cusack, playing one of Cusack’s love interests. This time around, Kravitz is playing the John Cusack role. The series was short but it sure was sweet (and had mad style).
