February has seen the highly anticipated showcase of precious stones tour abroad with the long revered Panthère collection front and centre for lovers of luxury craftsmanship. The Panthère Caline Ring – Cartier’s own work of art – is perhaps the most extravagant.
Drawing from over 100 years of intricate design, the Maison’s emblematic animal forms the motif of this ring. As if the panther is extracting a vital warmth from the gem, embracing and protecting the stone. Crafted from pink gold, emerald, diamond and onyx, the panther coils around the cabochon-cut rubellite – the stone suggesting an indistinguishable flame, the fiery colour of passion – and weighs an impressive 14.89 carats.
Something of this heritage and reputation is certainly not for the faint-hearted but will surely form a coveted heirloom for generations to come.
