Each morning, when the clock strikes ‘get the hell out of bed’ o’clock, like most people, I fight the urge to ‘snooze’ and begin to mentally prepare the day’s duties…including what to wear. Not too much inspiration comes from the pile of clean-but-not-put-away of clothes draped over the bedroom chair, however. Quickly fishing in there before racing out the door usually results in a look that’s less than exciting. So when a celebrity-spruiked ensemble crops up on the interwebs that sparks my sartorial joy, not only does it help my morning routine, but in some kind of pyschosomatic way, improves my whole day.

Today’s dash of fashion confidence comes via Victoria’s Secret model Martha Hunt. Yes, of course she’d look killer in a Glad bag and Crocs but this oh-so-wearable outfit is also perfectly adaptable to any of us who don’t have ‘VS Angel’ on our resume. High-waisted, cropped, wide-leg jeans in a lighter shade of blue, a boxy white t-shirt and an oversized blazer worn with chic, classic sling-backs and a shoulder bag (okay, hers are Chanel, but we can appropriate) is on-the-run perfection. And to style the look into success territory the sleeves need a casual roll to the elbow, the tee gets tucked and hair can be pulled into a low, messy bun (also known as the ‘I-showered-like-this’ hair-do). But it’s the jean shape that’s giving particular life to this look. The proportions (especially the wide-set, ankle-peeping crop) are flattering and refreshing for the in-between season.

So next time 6am hits you in the lacklustre feels, consider doing a Martha. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best.
