Heard of bakuchiol? It’s an ingredient that’s been talked about a lot in the beauty industry in recent years, but there’s still a level of confusion about what it is, and what exactly it can offer your skin. Some have dubbed it the clean beauty movement’s alternative to retinol, while others support its efficacy, but are hesitant to offer it the same unencumbered praise as traditional vitamin A.
While science indicates that bakuchiol shows promise, the breadth of evidence available on bakuchiol isn’t as solid as that of retinol just yet. But it’s said to offer similar benefits to vitamin A, albeit in a much more gentle manner – making it a win for sensitive skin types that struggle to tolerate a retinoid. With consistent use, you can expect diminished fine lines, a more even skin tone and a brighter complexion overall.
