With Haute Couture week in full swing around the city of Paris, not all of us can be in amongst the action. What we can do, from the comfort of our homes, is catch the shows live as they take place. And one show we’re always anticipating season after season is Valentino.
Under the faultless stewardship of Pierpaolo Piccioli, the Italian luxury house never fails to stir us with its opulence and potent use of texture and colour. Where last season saw plunging drapery, voluminous gowns, and even a couture take on denim, all presented at a 19th-century château in France, this upcoming collection promises a plethora of impressive techniques.
Titled ‘Le Salon’, the Spring/Summer 2024 Haute Couture show was previewed in a teaser shared on Valentino’s Instagram. Within the clip, we see up-close glimpses of the painstaking work and care that is poured into couture collections. From intricate ruching to feather and sheer fabrics, we got a glimpse into the fantastical world of dressmaking, suggesting a focus on the maison’s knack for elaborate craftsmanship.
