Italian luxuriate Max Mara is set to unveil its Fall/Winter 2024 offering in Milan in just a few hours.

Following up from last September’s Spring/Summer 2024 show, which saw women in arms take centre stage through utilitarian styling and recontextualised uniforms that honoured the quiet heroes of the 1940s.

Season after season, with almost four decades at the brand, we’ve seen creative director Ian Griffiths source inspiration in unsung figures throughout history. In channelling these bold spirits, he illuminates the luxury of function that underpins the house’s allure.

Just like the iconic ‘Teddy Bear’ coat that has found its time in the sun again, his capacity for reinvigorating classics from the archives for a modern audience is unmatched, and with every collection, we’re served up a wealth of newfangled designs that boast quintessential Italian craftsmanship and find their roots in the familiar.

Though there’s no guessing who or what will present as the inspiration for this current season, a teaser points to a more industrial, minimalist feeling—but with plenty of the house’s signature cosy outerwear, we’re sure.

Taking place on Thursday, February 22nd at 9:45 am (7:30 pm AEST) as part of Milan Fashion Week, you can catch the show live here or on the Max Mara website.
