Question: when Victoria Beckham goes through security at JFK, does she have to take her shoes off, too? Answer: in these boots, we hope not. Reviving the ol’ peep-toe sock boot of yesteryear (circa 2016 / 2017), Beckham’s chosen footwear was an interesting and indeed very posh choice for her arrival at New York City’s JFK airport, the snug, leg-hugging style not so TSA-friendly.

Part peep-toe, part boot, part sock; the shoe was first seen in Victoria Beckham’s Resort 2020 collection in myriad colours, including a tangy tangerine and chalky cobalt blue. But Beckham chose a brilliant shade of cherry red to stomp around JKF in, matching the colour to a folded clutch of the same shade. Pairing the statement shoe and bag with a calf-grazing check skirt, signature oversized sunglasses and prim argyle sweater and shirt combo (a Beckham favourite), the open-toe boot added a hint of skin to an otherwise conservative ensemble.

A shoe that sits in seasonal Switzerland – neither winter, nor summer – it’s a versatile boot which despite its dramatic bent and seemingly impractical shape is actually quite wearable. While a midi skirt is its best friend, the bolshy and brave amongst us can also try it with a micro hemline, just be careful to keep everything else at a minimum.

A style Victoria Beckham has spruiked since the beginning of the year – in everything from lofty coloured leather to lightweight suede – the peep-toe sock boot is proving itself a shoe to be reckoned with, plus is the perfect way to show off a fun pedicure, like Beckham’s pop red varnish.
