Millennial women received an early Christmas present when four of the early 2000s teen screen supremes, the cast of The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants, reunited over the weekend.

Over 18 years had passed since Blake Lively, America Ferrera, Alexis Bedel and Amber Tamblyn first shared the screen, but when they gathered to honour Ferrera’s Critics Choice Awards nomination at a special screening of Barbie in New York, it was like no time had passed at all.

Tragically, despite the on-screen and real-life sisterhood bonding over a pair of shared denim pants, the ensemble resolved to leave their jeans at home. Big mistake, huge.

Instead of gaudy Y2K denim—as seen below in studded flares, cuffed trousers and low-rise stonewash at the 2005 Kid’s Choice Awards—the group opted for various takes of #Barbiecore.

Similar to the plot of the noughties coming-of-age drama—which, for the uninitiated, follows four best friends who share a mysterious pair of jeans that inexplicably suits them all perfectly over summer—it’s clear they agreed that Barbie pink is a universally flattering shade.

However, this didn’t disavow them from applying their own interpretations of the plastic fantastic aesthetic. Given that Ferrera has lived the most in the Barbie-verse, she eschewed the film’s signature hue for an ivory draped mini dress by Elie Saab.

Lively donned a ‘stereotypical Barbie’ silhouette in a magenta Oscar De La Renta mini dress featuring a skin-tight bodice and feathered skirt. She also wore bicep-grazing opera gloves to complete her traditional Barbie look.

Bledel took cues from her breakout role, Rory Gilmore, in a Stars Hollow-approved blazer and Scarlett pencil skirt. Tamblyn, a New York Times best-selling author, wore a monochromatic pantsuit.

Celebrating the reunion, Ferrera posted a series of photos to social media, captioning the post: “The Sisterhood came through all in pink to celebrate my performance in Barbie last night. I love these women with all my heart.”

As for us? We’d love nothing more than a Greta Gerwig-helmed third installation in the Sisterhood franchise. The ball is in your court, ladies.
