We know chemical exfoliants are good for our skin, but what’s less clear is what formula we should actually be using. With AHAs, BHAs, toners and essences on the market, finding the one is simple in theory, but incredibly difficult in practice. What you want is a product that’s geared towards your skin concerns, and contains complimentary ingredients that will afford secondary benefits (whether that’s hydration, brightening or rebalancing).
So here we’ve curated 5 of the best new launches categorised by skin type. From lightweight essences to heavy-duty toners, there’s something here for every skin type — simply scroll on to find yours.
For Dry Skin
If your complexion is flaky or tight, you need an exfoliating acid that’s gentle and will replenish the skin of vital moisture. Augustinus Bader’s Essence contains phytic acid, salicylic acid and papaya to slough off dull surface cells and clear pores, while wasabi ferment, hyaluronic acid, white peony and the brand’s signature TFC8 condition and soothe. You’ll be left with softer, more radiant skin long term.

For SENSITIVE Skin
If you don’t tolerate leave-on accelerating acids too well, try out a cleanser instead. The active ingredient will remain on your skin for a much smaller time frame, meaning a more subtle result but also less zero chance of redness or irritation. Dermalogica’s new Daily Glycolic Cleanser contains AHAs to brighten, refine and gently resurface. Be sure to massage it in for at least 30 seconds for best results.

For Dullness and Pigmentation
The original Dr Dennis Gross peel pad is one of the most iconic skincare products of recent years, and now the brand has released an iteration with retinol and ferulic acid, for an al-in-one overnight skin reboot. With added squalane and hyaluronic acid, it’s resurfacing and brightening but also quite nourishing. A great one to correct dullness or uneven skin tone.

FOR OILY OR CONGESTED SKIN
Oily or breakout prone skin fares well with a combined alpha and beta hydroxy acid formula to unclog pores and remove flaky or dull surface skin cells. Youth To The People’s new unity exfoliant is super effective but still gentle enough for use multiple nights a week. Either pat it on with your fingers or saturate a cotton round and pat it across oily or congested areas (like the t-zone). With time, it will help to clear and balance the skin.
