The all-American ritual of running down from the stands to kiss your boyfriend at the end of a big game is a rite of passage for anyone dating a football player. With Taylor Swift a regular mainstay at the Kansas City Chiefs matches to support her tight-end boyfriend Travis Kelce, we knew we were biding our time before the pair delivered their share of field-side public displays of affection.
This moment came after the Chiefs’ victory over the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium. (For the uninitiated, Swift and Kelce first “connected” at the Missouri stop of the Era’s Tour when the singer performed at Arrowhead Stadium. It’s also where Swift first appeared in the private box to cheer on Kelce, so this choice of location for their PDA debut is further proof of the pair’s “invisible strings”).
In images shared by Kelce’s teammate’s girlfriend, he and Swift can be seen posing together, with a second photo showing Swift leaning up to kiss Kelce on the cheek.
However, the intimate moment wasn’t the only detail of the evening that caught the attention of Swift’s fans. For the occasion, the star appeared as the ideal ‘WAG’ in Chiefs merchandise, a black pleated mini skirt and Nike Air Force 1 sneakers. But it seemed that Kelce finally gave her the friendship bracelet with his number on it, as he revealed to his fellow NFL alum brother, Jason Kelce, on their “New Heights” podcast.
If you’ll recall, Kelce initially divulged he wanted to give Swift a homemade charm bracelet with his phone number on it after he attended the Era’s Tour, with this public disclosure a factor that prompted Swift and Kelce’s relationship into the zeitgeist. (The other being Kelce’s very communal invitation for Swift to attend one of his games).
On Swift’s wrist—which was delicately placed on Kelce’s chest for their PDA shot—the musician could be seen wearing a friendship bracelet featuring Kelce’s jersey number, “87”. It looks like the lyrics from Swift’s song “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My) from her debut album are coming true: “I’ll be eighty-seven, you’ll be eighty-nine”
