It’s been a big week for Taylor Swift. First, she was honoured with the first-ever Billboard Woman of the Decade award on Thursday night in Los Angeles, where she delivered a riveting 15-minute speech criticising toxic male privilege and opening up about what it means to be a successful woman in the music industry. Then over the weekend, the singer turned 30 with an elaborate Christmas-themed birthday party, donning both a Santa hat and ‘Birthday Girl’ tiara along with famous friends Camila Cabello, Halsey, Gigi Hadid and Martha Hunt who all indulged a daggy Christmas dress-up.

Today in New York, however, things were a little different. Or rather, her dress was. Arriving at the “Cats” World Premiere at Alice Tully Hall in New York City, the singer swapped out snowman vests and Santa beards for a spectacular floral Oscar de la Renta gown. Swift, who plays Bombalurina in the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic, swanned out in the bitter New York chill in a sweeping strapless gown in rich floral brocade by designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. The dress featured an intricate floral appliqué at the bodice, falling with drama at the hem, which Swift paired with “that red lip, classic thing” that she does so well.

While Taylor Swift’s co-stars Jennifer Hudson, who plays Grizabella, and ballerina Francesca Hayward, who plays Victoria, also shone, both in feminine, long-sleeve lace dresses in black and white, respectively. Purr-fect red carpet dressing, indeed.
