Since its inception in 1865, Swarovski has made itself synonymous with these buried jewels. Utilising these natural trophies, the leading jeweller has transformed glimmering crystals, gilded metals and glistening gemstones into transfixing objets d’art. And, though these bespoke ‘artefacts’ inherently demand our attention, Swarovski’s masterful excavation of each has truly uncovered the possibilities of these material’s sumptuous glory.
In the crystalline Maison’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection, its bold universe of organic sculptures was further propelled by an ornate lens. Evolving with the heritage that has come to define it, Swarovski’s poetic savoir-faire came into light through a dazzling array. This collection saw Swarovski quell the belief that glamour is reserved for special occasions.
Instead, the FW23 collection accentuated the intrinsic dichotomy found within quotidian extravagance. The house’s beloved jewellery families, particularly the Dextera and Millenia, are emblematic of this ethos. That is, enhancing the mundane through deft craftsmanship and light-catching crystals forged from sublime techniques.
This season, Swarovski has entered a world brandished by exquisite gilded silhouettes. Expanding on its vocabulary of wondrous geometry, the luxuriate drew inspiration from the “Golden Phase” of renegade Austrian painter, Gustav Klimt. Evoking the hypnotic patterns and inherent symbolism of Klimt’s most revered works, the brand offered a new perspective on gold’s merits. Both a rare mineral and a powerful hue, Swarovski found a kindred spirit in Klimt’s transfixing oeuvre.
The virtuoso’s gilded disposition lent itself to Swarovski’s signature assortment of show-stopping cuts. Because what Swarovski woman doesn’t want to be adorned in golden bijoux until they rival Klimt’s Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I?
Through soft interlocking gold chains and mesmerising crystals hewed into innovative shapes, Swarovski has cemented its propensity for contemporary creations.
