Alyssa – or @alvssa_ – uses Instagram as a channel to share her creativity to the world. With fashion her choice of creative expression, the blogger articulates herself through quirky mash-ups and eclectic pairings making for a super saturated feed with a streetwear slant.

With streetwear in her fashion bones, Alyssa arrived at GRAZIA HQ with a pair of her favourite Nike high tops. The task? To refashion her ride-or-die kicks into four, very different looks.

Here, using the power of Instagram’s Explore page, GRAZIA stylist Patrick gives Alyssa’s sneakers a fashionable jooj; hitting refresh on an old faithful by coupling them with pieces they would not usually partner up with. Instead of simply recreating the looks, he uses Instagram as a tool to inspire – and what glorious outfits they become.

Colour Co-Ord
Patrick searched the hashtag, #nikesneakers, and found the exact sneaker pop up on @wuzg00d’s page, where the influencer had tapped hot pink to tie in her outfit tonally. Instead of pink, Patrick opted for a sunny shade of yellow via a punchy turtleneck and bag, which he contrasted with a glossy lipstick red jacket and fun oversized shades.

make a statement
For an elevated take on relaxed dressing, Patrick sought inspiration from account @looseunicorns, where fashion influencer Maria Beltre paired loose black pants and chequered Vans with a boldly graphic shirt with Japanese anime Dragon Ball Z. Instead of the kitschy cartoon print, Patrick used the graphic lines of Alyssa’s sneakers to dictate the look, choosing a statement shirt by Lactose in a similar palette to the shoes and adding a wide belt by Charles and Keith.

Print Party
Welcome to Alyssa’s print party! Alyssa wanted to explore #printonprint, which is always a challenging trend to pull off. Patrick used a picture of @killla.kate in a striped fuzzy cardigan and matching bucket hat as a reference, but instead of the bold primary colours, he played on the pastel hues in Alyssa’s sneakers. Tapping the powdery chambray blue in the Nike’s, he added pastel pink playing the soft gelato hues against each other in delicious harmony. And of course, a little bucket hat topped off the look, quite literally.

Meet the tailor
For tailoring with a twist, Patrick riffed @glamourgoal’s plume-trimmed Miu Miu pants and added some kitschy, tonal layers to Alyssa’s more streamlined look. Layering a girly, fur-trimmed dress over a structured, masculine shirt took Alyssa out of her sartorial comfort zone and made for a look which was both nuanced and novel and of course, anchored by her trusty pair of kicks.
