On October 13, Cassius Turvey was brutally attacked by a group of unknown men walking on his way home from school. He was placed in an induced coma due to serious brain injuries and later died. He was 15-years-old. His passing has captured the hearts of people all over the country with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declaring it a “racially motivated” attack.

Turvey’s mothe Noongar-Yamatji woman Mechelle Turvey described her son as a “vibrant, caring, jokester with a beautiful smile” who loved school and his family. Vigils and memorials have been held in every major city over the past weeks and now his funeral will be held this Friday on November 18. As attendance in person is restricted, for anyone wanting to pay their respects a livestream will be made available from 10:30am AWST (or 1:30pm AEDT), here.
