To answer those who wondered what Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift spoke about during their power-move girl’s night in New York City, we can assume it may have something to do with this update on Turner and Joe Jonas’ tumultuous public divorce.
Overnight, Turner filed a petition in a Manhattan court, requesting the musician to return their two children, Willa, 3, and their youngest daughter (whose name hasn’t been publicly disclosed and was just referred to as DMJ in the suit), to their home in England.
According to the petition, the suit has been filed as “a result of wrongful retention”, with the Game Of Thrones actress requesting “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained.”

In the documents, which have been made public by Page Six, Turner has allegedly appealed for the courts to mandate Jonas to return the children to their “habitual residence in England,” where they have reportedly been permanently living since April 2023.
Turner reportedly alleged that Jonas has wrongfully retained their children since September 20, 2023, with their “peripatetic” lifestyle ending after they supposedly decided to make England their “forever home” over the Christmas holiday period in 2022.
The suit reportedly claimed that “the children are both fully involved and integrated in all aspects of daily and cultural life in England,” though Jonas and his daughters relocated back to the United States in August.
As Turner was in Spain filming the British true-crime drama Joan and Jonas on a nationwide stadium tour with his band ‘The Jonas Brothers’ at the time, it’s alleged in the document that the children would travel with the musician so “the children would at least be able to spend some time during the day with one of their parents until [Turner] finished her filming commitments.”
It’s also reportedly alleged that the agreement for the children to reside in the US with Jonas would be a “temporary arrangement”.
The document continued to touch on the subject of Jonas’ divorce filing, with Turner reportedly claimed in her suit that she found out ” that Jonas wished to dissolve their four-year marriage “through the media”.
Since the official filing, Turner allegedly argued that Jonas “has possession of the children’s passports…refuses to return the passports… and refuses to send the children home to England.”
Jonas, as expected, has contradicted Turner’s accusation, taking to the court of public opinion to trial this case. Representatives for the 34-year-old released a statement citing Turner’s “harsh legal position” goes against their “amicable co-parenting setup”.
“When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst,” the statement continued.
Jonas’ representatives also deny that Turner only found out about their divorce “through the media”, claiming that the 27-year-old was “aware” of his decision.
