After TMZ reported that Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner were heading for divorce on September 3, official court documents have allegedly been released confirming the split.
And now, the actress and musician have addressed the claims themselves in a shared statement on social media.
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the duo wrote in an Instagram post. “There are many speculative narratives as to why, but, truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
According to sources speaking to TMZ, representatives for Jonas, 34, contacted and consulted “at least two LA-area divorce lawyers” ahead of ending his marriage to Turner, 27.
Sources with intel have also disclosed that the pair have had “serious problems for at least six months”. They claim that Jonas has allegedly been caring for their two young daughters, Willa, 2, and her little sister, born in 2022, “pretty much all of the time”. Documents show, however, that the pair are seeking “shared parental responsibility”.
The publication claims to have spoken to “sources with direct knowledge,” with these anonymous references claiming that Jonas is filing for joint custody of their children.
“Joe and Sophie have a prenup—something Joe also addresses in his divorce docs,” the publication alleged. “There’s more in here as it pertains to their kids—including the fact that Joe wants a judge to establish a parenting plan between him and Sophie that allows for ‘frequent and continuing contact with both parties’,” they continue.
Their divorce concludes four years of marriage.
