Sofia Richie married music producer Elliott Grainge in the South of France this weekend, wearing three bespoke Chanel gowns for the occasion.
For her ceremony dress, Richie wore a floor-length embellished lace gown with a criss-cross neckline inspired by a look from the French fashion house’s recent spring/summer 2023 collection. Richie added bespoke detailing, such as her ‘something blue’ – the couple’s initials and the wedding date – sewn into the inner lining of the dress as well as two heart designs, one sewn in the middle of the chest in lace and another below, facing it.
Richie wore the dress with a dramatic veil, pulling her blonde hair back into a sleek and elegant updo, adding a simple pair of diamond earrings and keeping her beauty look simple to ensure nothing stole its limelight.
In her final dress fitting, which was documented for Vogue, Richie guessed her future husband’s response to seeing the gown for the first time. “I really think Elliot’s going to love it,” she said. “He’s the biggest cheerleader when it comes to anything I wear. If he doesn’t cry, I’ll be very sad,” she added with a laugh.
Richie’s bridesmaids, including her older sister, Nicole Richie, wore black for the ceremony, with Nicole posting a tribute to the bride on Instagram, showing her fixing her train, writing, “I love you more than anything.”
Later in the evening, Richie changed into a shorter look fit for the dancefloor: a structured white Chanel mini-dress with the iconic Chanel camellia flower front and centre.
Richie revealed this piece was inspired by a ’90s Chanel design originally worn by Claudia Schiffer on the runway, adding low-heeled white slingback Chanel shoes on her feet, taking her hair out of its bun and into a ponytail, but leaving the rest of her beauty look the same.
The third Chanel gown, which Richie wore to her rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, was equally stunning.
The long-sleeve and high-neck white dress featured elegant beading from its neckline to the waist, leading into a fringed overlay skirt, inspired by a dress worn by Stella Tennant on the autumn/winter 1997 couture catwalk.
Richie wore her hair pulled back for this look, too, adding a similar pair of Chanel slingback heels to the ones she wore on her wedding day.
