SIR. has long been a staple in the Australian fashion scene, both at home Down Under and, increasingly, overseas. So much so that when I was recently in Sydney for Afterpay Australian Fashion Week, two international journalists I was travelling with from the US meticulously carved out an hour from our jam-packed schedules to visit the label’s Bondi boutique while I, a former Sydney-sider who’d already frequented the space, caught some much-needed shut-eye (the reviews were rave, and the shopping bags were large).

In an expansion of their offering, today SIR. announced a collaboration with Australian model Jordan Barrett, a longtime friend of the brand’s creative directors, Nikki Campbell and Sophie Coote. The trio, who would routinely FaceTime to discuss creative ideas, had a shared desire to create a genderless offering. Thus, the resulting capsule came to be, marking the first time SIR. has released a gender-neutral collection in its history.

Fusing Barrett’s effortlessly cool and fashion-forward personal style with SIR.’s signature minimalist aesthetic and progressive design comes pieces such as tailored jackets, oversized button-downs and blazers. These are perfectly juxtaposed with more street-adjacent boiler suits and sweatpants, all of which come in tonal hues and oversized silhouettes.

“Jordan has always been woven into SIR. in some way,” explains Campbell and Coote of the organic partnership. “We share the same aesthetic and creative eye, so coming together was very natural. In a rare moment, we were all in the same city, we found the perfect moment to collaborate on a deeper level.”

“I’ve been collaborating with Nikki and Sophie in some way or another for as long as I can remember,” Barrett adds. “After a casual FaceTime sharing ideas as we do, the concept to create something that captured our shared vision was ignited. Each piece is an extension of me.”

Just you wait ’til the US girls get word.
