While we’re all privy to dishing out some unsolicited fashion advice to our mothers, you’d think the stakes were a little different when you’re the offspring of one of the most stylish women on the planet. Well, apparently not, according to Sienna Miller.
In an interview with The Guardian, the Anatomy of a Scandal star told the publication that her eldest daughter, Marlowe Sturridge, inherited a penchant for fashion, the 11-year-old “little fashion monster” isn’t so delicate with her opinions.
“She’s so stylish. And very critical,” said Miller. “She’s like a young Anna Wintour in her total disdain for some of the things I wear.”
But the actress revealed that moving from New York City to London in 2023 has placated some of her criticisms.
“In New York, she thought I was mortifying. She wishes I would brush my hair,” explained Miller. “Although, now that we’re back in England, she’s starting to appreciate the undoneness.”
The mother-daughter duo recently went viral for sharing a stylish moment on the Cannes red carpet for Horizon: An American Saga. While Miller kept to her boho-chic style in a sheer lilac Chloe dress, her daughter opted for a more structured look with a satin pink mini dress.
Funnily enough, Miller’s daughter was actually seated next to Wintour at a Proenza Schouler Fall/Winter 2023 show during New York Fashion Week last year—Marlowe rocking similar opaque shades.
While many would give their arm to have access to Miller’s wardrobe, she explained to the outlet that her clothes are less luxe and more functional these days, leaving less for Marlowe to sift through.
“I don’t honestly buy a lot of designer stuff because I’m really fickle, and I get bored quickly,” she said, estimating her the sum to be around 40/40/20 with high street, vintage and designer, respectively.
But with her father, Miller’s ex, Tom Sturridge, now dating another British style icon Alexa Chung, we’re sure the budding fashion critic will have her pick of the lot.
