Any Australian will attest that while our isolation from the rest of the world is welcomed at times, it makes shopping for cult goods extremely expensive (hello exorbitant shipping costs) or just near impossible. Particularly when you can’t travel abroad (we miss spending hours in Glossier). Similarly, there are certainly ways and means to purchase Kim Kardashian‘s beloved underwear and loungewear online. But for the first time ever, SKIMS will make its debut in brick-and-mortar stores Down Under.
Luxury department store David Jone has today announced it will stock a range of SKIMS which will be available to shop online and in store from this spring. And yes, the brand’s famous Seamless Sculpt, Core Control, Cozy Collection, Fits Everybody, Stretch Rib and Sleep Jersey lines will be stocked.
Co-founded in 2019 by the reality star and Jens Grede, SKIMS boasts technically constructed shapewear that enhances curves, underwear with invisible support and smoothing qualities and breathable loungewear for indoors and outside. It also has the tick of celebrity approval from famous faces such as Kate Moss and Paris Hilton.
“I’m so excited to see SKIMS launch in Australia and can’t wait for everyone to experience the brand in real life at David Jones” comments Kim Kardashian West, Co-Founder of SKIMS. “The quality, fit and feel of our collections are so important and I’m thrilled customers will now be able to experience that first-hand”.
David Jones General Manager, Womenswear and Accessories, Bridget Veals comments: “As a brand that supports and celebrates size inclusivity and body positivity, we are absolutely thrilled to be the exclusive bricks and mortar retailer in Australia to stock SKIMS. We understand that SKIMS is already a highly sought after brand in our market so we are delighted that we can make SKIMS accessible for our customers to try and engage with in store with support from our team of fitting experts and of course shop via our website.”
Kardashian appeared on the cover of GRAZIA and spoke of the light bulb moment which saw the launch of her celebrated brand.
“I thought, ‘Wow, if I can’t find a shade colour, think of all the women out there who couldn’t find their colour either’,” Kardashian said. “I found something I felt was missing in the marketplace and made sure we filled it.”
